How long do you leave your Christmas lights out for people to admire?
An increasing number of people appear to leave their lights in position (at least those on the roof and walls) all year, but only turn them on in the Christmas season. And for safety, I have to say that is a good idea!
Do you go to visit Christmas lights after Christmas, when life doesn’t seem quite so rushed?
Given Christmas decoration stay up until the 6th January for many places, why shouldn’t the lights also last that long? And why not enjoy them while they last?
I leave my lights on until the second week of January. I enjoy looking at them and hate to take them down. I also leave lights put up that are outside and only plug them in during the holiday season. It is much easier! I will drive around well in into January to find more light to admire. I love doing this.
It’s good that people keep lights going into January – it can be hard to fit in a lot of ‘light drives’ during December and I find it much more relaxed and enjoyable in January.
I suggested we keep our lights up all year, too, but my husband decided they’d last better if stored – that reminds me that it’s about time to pull them out and start thinking about hanging them up again 🙂
