An important part of the Santa traditions is how he gets around – namely, his sleigh pulled by reindeer and boomers.
And of course we want to know the names of those precious reindeer and boomers.
Just for fun, though, I want to know what names you would have given to Santa’s reindeer if you’d had the choice. Maybe you’d have used some of the existing names (Dancer, Prancer, Donner, Blitzen, Comet, Vixen, Cupid and Dasher) or maybe you’d have your 8 favourite names instead.
So share your list of 8 reindeer names for Santa (you never know, he may just use them if he retires his current reindeer!) and the list I like the most will win a Love Santa letter prize.
Only family friendly names please…
If I could name Santa’s next generation of reindeer. I would name them:
1. Joy: Christmas brings joy
2. Peace: Christmas is about Peace on Earth
3. Snowy: Christmas reminds me of snow
4. Candie: We all love Christmas Candy
5. Blinky: Christmas lights blink
6. Tiny: Tiny hands open presents
7. Ringer: Christmas Bells ringing
8. Melody: Christmas songs
Finally, the most important reindeer of all, the one who would replace Rudolf. He would be carrying the sleigh when no other reindeer could. His name would be Star. I would name him Star for the simple fact that a star shine bright. Star the reindeer would shine bright and light up the sky every Christmas Eve.
Thanks for creating that list Lisa 🙂
I’m resisting commenting on it specifically to keep things fair and let everyone devise their own lists, but I enjoyed reading the names and your reasons.
You are welcome! I enjoyed writing it.
I think the nations of the world should be represented so my lsit is:
1. Blinky (like Blinky Bill!)
2. Rapido
3. Ciel
4. Mýga
5.Tobu
6. Himmel
7. Cepat
8. Olen
Thanks for naming Santa’s reindeer, Jaxx.
Again, I’m resisting commenting as this is a competition, hohohoho!
I love the idea of naming Santa’s reindeer! But I just can’t think of any clever names to list – will have to think about it some more…
I don’t know that Santa would worry about ‘clever’ names for his reindeer, Junaita. Just names that seem somehow special to you is what we’re after…
Ok, it wasn’t an easy choice!
I love the idea of including international names, Jaxx, as Santa is part of the world, not just one area of culture – and I had to laugh at Blinky being the first name!
Lisa, you came up with some great names and the reason behind each one was a lovely touch.
However, I can’t resist Star, Tiny and Peace so Lisa is our lucky winner 🙂
If I had a chance I would name it Hope. I guess Star, Love or Peace would be good too 🙂
All nice names, too, Trissandra 🙂
Can you tell me what the raindeers names are please. 😛
The main eight reindeer Santa uses are all named in our reindeer names post Natasha 🙂
I wish for :
Star Lily
Game Of life
And so many other things 😛 😮 😀
Do you mean you wish they were reindeer names or are you just sharing your Christmas wish list with us Natasha?
Star Lily would be a pretty reindeer or boomer name I think.
I mean my wish list

Can you say hi to Santa can Santa reply back
Hi Natasha, I will pass on your message to Santa but it’s probably more fun if you write him a letter and tell him more than just hello 🙂
With only 17 days until Santa is on his big trip, he is VERY busy so I can’t promise how he will respond to your message – if you’re lucky he will be able to write to you!
I can barely remember the original names – and I have to pair them up to do it (dancer and prancer, donner and blizten, comet and cupid, etc). So maybe something like: Roger and Rodney, Karen and Kate, Sonya and Sanders, Thomas and Tate. It still matches the lines (“on x and x, now x and x, etc”), but it I can probably remember these for longer than five minutes at a time.
Lol, Emma! I guess it’s what you are used to – Germans may find Donner and Blitzen easy enough to remember 🙂
I think …
Glowy
Tinkering
Tinsel
Green tree
Flasher
Ho ho
Christmas
Bobble
Preasants
Hi Mia,
that is a nice list of names 🙂 I particularly like Bobble, Glowy and Tinkering!
