Nearly 20% of children love to give gifts and help others around Christmas time. I’m not sure whether to be pleased 20% of kids are generous or sad 80% haven’t been shown the pleasure in giving and helping others.
What do you think?
All the more reason to focus on teaching kids about the spirit of Christmas and reducing the reliance on presents as the important Christmas activity.
Do you think the statistics would be different if this survey was repeated in Australia or other countries?

I would make sure every child has lots of presents on Christmas Day – regardless of their parents income.
A good suggestion, Clauzetta.
Good to know that a decent proportion of young children understand the importance of family. It makes me proud to be British.
I agree family is important and am happy kids know it, Trristan 🙂 Thanks for adding your comment.
I would offer everyone a great meal with all their family and friends, the presents they’ve been waiting for and I would make it snow.We need snow on Christmas.
I agree with giving everyone a great Christmas meal and gifts, not sure about the snow though. Of course, if you made it snow for us in Australia, it probably would melt pretty quickly so we could have the effect without the cold and still be able to get outside!
The “eat more cheese” and “make all dad’s make the dinner “cracked me up!! Kids do say the best things!
I laughed at those, too, dhrynio 🙂
Lol this was a funny read.
I thought it was adorable til’ I saw the one part where it said they’d bring dad their grandpa for Christmas. That made me a little sad.
Yes, that one is a bit sad, sorrowscal, but also shows the child has love and compassion so not all bad.
It is lovely to read/hear how children think about things – they can often surprise us.
